I want to give something back to all the people who helped me troubleshooting my new pc problems and the best way I know how is to help others who may have had a problem with a similar pc or components.
So, if you have a new Winchester core AMD 939 A64 chip , an Abit AV8 motherboard , a S-ATA drive, Corsair Value RAM, an Antec Sonata case, or a Radeon video card, read on..it may help solve your problem. I still have at least one issue which I need solving, the solution to which I will post here once its figured out.
1. First up, the processor. How can you tell the difference between a Winchester and Newcastle core? Many computer resellers still don?t know and AMD doesn?t help either by indicating which type it is on the processors package. As I found out, there is one surefire way to tell if it?s the Winchester core. If the letters ?BI? appear at the end of a long sequence of numbers on the surface of the chip than it is a Winchester. If the letters are ?AW?, then it?s one with the older Newcastle core. For example:
ADA3500DEP4AW -> Newcastle, 130nm
ADA3500DIK4BI -> Winchester, 90nm
2. The Motherboard. The AV8 gave me all sorts of troubles. The first one I bought wouldn?t even post. I found out soon enough that (one) the problem(s) was with the BIOS revision. Boards with the Phoenix BIOS revision 1 were only programmed to handle Newcastle cores (see above) so the only way I could change the bios was either to RMA it or get the store to flash the BIOS for me with a processor with the Newcastle core. You can tell if your BIOS is revision 1.0 by finding the sticker at the corner of the motherboard closest to the RAM modules. You can update the BIOS by downloading Abit?s flash utility along with the most recent version of the bios here.
The second problem I encountered was a situation where I could post but only with certain hardware attached. It turned out to be a basic problem with this particular board (not all Abit AV8s), making it an RMA. However, I was stubborn and had it exchanged in store for another AV8, which also had to have its BIOS updated (see above.)
3. The third problem involved the Antec True Power 380W PSU. The system kept crashing while I installed Windows, but the times when it happened were inconsistent. My first guess, and many others also, was that maybe I didn?t have enough power to run the components I had installed. This was and is false. Don?t be suckered into buying a higher wattage power supply just because the guy at the store and others say that you need to. In truth, you can run a stacked system at breakneck speeds with ATX psu?s that are as low as 240W. The problem really was with this power supply and all like it. But I digress. For some reason, True Power 380W PSUs manufactured before October of 2004 have a compatibility problem with the AV8 (and others I?ve heard.) Mine was manufactured in September, as I found out by looking at the side of the PSU. So this turned out to be an RMA for the PSU. At this point I had spent enough time modding my new computer to have purchased another system, given the three days of lost time I had already put in figuring out what was going wrong. I insisted that they replace the PSU with one that worked and they ended up giving me a new one worth CAN $75 (US $61). I modded the 120mm fan on the Antec Sonata case to run at the same low 5v that the True Power one did, cutting noise levels dramatically without suffering any significant cooling losses.
After solving these problems I installed XP with no hassle, except for the fact that I had to use a S-ATA driver floppy disk that came with the AV8 for it to work. (I can?t believe that they are still supporting this ancient technology..I had to borrow a floppy from a friend?sheesh)
Current problems
1. I am suffering from random crashes which I am unable to attribute to any one component. I have read similar complaints from people who also have ATI Radeon cards which suggests that there may be a compatibility problem with the video card. The Catalyst VPU has kicked in at times when a game freezes.
2. The RAM I am running is also potentially implicated in this problem. It has been suggested that I run the memory in different slots or on their own but this seems only to be treating the symptom and not the disease. It also hasn?t made a difference in incidences of the sometimes odd behaviour of some functions within XP, the copy of which I was running smoothly with Service Pack 2 installed on my old P4 2.4c. The system also randomly hangs or crashes during gaming or even word processing.
3. The S-ATA Hard Drive may also be the issue, and I have yet to try a suggested solution of fooling the MB into thinking that it is an IDE drive by disabling the VIA controller and activating the PROMISE controller. I have heard that this works on the ASUS A8V Deluxe board .
So that?s it for now. I am going to fiddle with some settings and will post my results here. If you can help me out, please do.

- I have an older ASUS A8V-Deluxe motherboard with 2 SATA controllers that I use. The main is a VIA VT8237 RAID that I have non-RAID drivers for I believe cuz I do not have RAID. WIN 8 rightly recognizes my intuos graphic tablet (GD-0912-U), but there are apparently no drivers availbale. Those provided by WACOM support do not function. I have multiple programs (Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, Illustrator) and I just fished out my old Wacom gd-0912-u out to use it with Windows 10. Hey guys.
I have multiple programs (Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, Illustrator) and I just fished out my old Wacom gd-0912-u out to use it with Windows 10. The older looking drivers seemed to work fine, but I couldn't get any pressure sensitivity out of my tablet. You can see in the drivers that pressure is being done, but when I moved into a Windows program, like photoshop, nothing would be pressure sensitive.
I just read up a lot on it and apparently people are saying that this happens when Windows Ink is disabled in the Wacom Tablet options. I also read that to get pressure sensitivity in these programs, Windows Ink can be enabled and have the features removed in order to remove problems with lag, but in my case I don't even have an option to enable Windows Ink
I'm pretty sure that this is part of the driver, but I'm using the newest version on Wacom's Website (11/25/2009) (look for Drivers for Intuos GD)
Any thoughts? Should I uninstall and use different drivers? can I use Intuos 3/4/5 drivers even if this tablet isn't one of those?

Bosch came out with their line of 12V and 18V brushless drills and drivers nearly a year ago, but other tools, such as their circular saw, jigsaw, and rotary tool, and a new vacuum haven’t been released in the USA yet.
Major releases such as these are bound to be hit the USA, at least in my opinion. A lot of readers have been pining for Bosch brushless 12V impact driver since the brushless drill and screwdriver were released, and for an impact wrench of some kind for a while now.

The tools’ model numbers correspond to what we’ve seen on Bosch’s Asian sites – GDR 10,8 V-EC refers to the impact driver, GDS 10,8 V-EC refers to the 3/8″ impact wrench.
There are a couple of interesting things we can tell from these images. The images match the official teaser images on Bosch’s official sites, and so I am pretty confident that they’re the real deal. But they also look to be early production models, or perhaps unfinished prototypes.
First, it looks like each has electronic speed and torque controls with two settings, not unlike the Milwaukee M12 Fuel impact driver I reviewed.
Second, there’s a light bulb icon on the top of the tools, right in front of the electronic speed indicators, that looks like it controls the LEDs in the impacts’ ring lights. Makita’s new oil-impulse impact driver has a similar feature, but this is something that I haven’t seen on many cordless tools before.
Third, the speed ranges are said to be 0-1,200 and 0-2,600 RPM. Both tools have boilerplate serial numbers and blank manufacturing dates, e.g. MM/YYYY, and so they could be prototypes. The final speed ranges might change before product models hit the market.

Lastly, the impacts have other features we have come to expect, such as an LED ring light and built-in battery fuel gauge.
